Anyway.. back to the point; my connection-less internet. I was extremely worried – to the point that I had to have a shower to calm myself down. (On reflection, I may have done this to wash my hair. Maybe not. I’m not sure).

When, after said shower, the internet was still not connecting, I resorted to my… last resort. MY DAD, the oh so scary one. The bossman. His answer? “Turn it off and on again.”

Apparently, I am not mentally equipped enough to do this. So he did. While I made him coffee, like a good little slave girl/daughter. And it worked!

We found this out when my MSN automatically logged in and he attempted to have a conversation with my (actually offline) bestfrann (this roughly translates as, in Emma talk, best (male) friend), before shouting “WHAT IS THIS THING DOING?” and proceeding to point and wave at the computer screen. I had to explain the concept of inter-computer communication. It was not fun.

So… I’m thanking my lucky stars that he eventually left me alone to “revise” (read as: blog). And from now on, I know how to reconnect my internet! WINWIN.

Today’s post is about the immense stupidity of the human race. Well, not the entire species, but those select few who seem to have been born without a brain, and thus no common sense.

Now, I just have to check: we all know how a baby is made, right? Good. Because some idiot sure didn’t….

On Yahoo Answers, it’s quite common to come across some stupid questions. But I never thought I’d see the day when someone asked:

Can your baby get pregnant if you have sex while pregnant?
like if you are pregnant with a baby girl, and you have sex while you are pregnant, can the sperm go up in there and impregnate the baby?

This person was completely serious. And what was even more worrying was the fact that there were people answering this question with YES:

The baby can get pregnant only if it’s a female. If you suspect that your baby is pregnant, try not to have sex again. You run the risk of getting your baby’s baby pregnant and that can lead to complications like an infinite loop.

Um, excuse me? Correct me if I’m wrong but there are two main elements that are needed for a woman to have a baby:

• She must have started her periods, and thus started ovulating.
• The egg must be fertilised by the sperm; obviously this generally occurs through intercourse, and sometimes through IVF treatment and the like.

So you’re telling me that, by having sex with a pregnant woman, you are actively having sex with the foetus too? I don’t know what planet these people come from but they’re damn wrong.

A foetus is surrounded by amniotic sac, filled with fluid – nothin’ gets in there because all the ‘foreign materials’ are kept away. Unless your baby is the reincarnation of the Virgin Mary, she ain’t gonna produce no child of her own, and she certainly isn’t going to be able to carry it to full term without serious damage to herself, and probably you, too.

Surely these people did sex education at school? Even if they didn’t they should know the general rules of reproduction. A foetus, in the womb – that isn’t even classed as an actual baby yet – cannot produce it’s own child. Go back to school.

Now, I’m off to convince myself that there are people with brains in the world. Wish me luck.

I’ve been browsing websites all afternoon. I’ve been planning what I’m getting my nearest and dearest. Amazon and Boots have become my most-visited sites.

I’m always excited for Christmas, but never this organised. I’ve written down what I need to buy, how much it’ll cost, how many hours I need to work to pay for everything… it’s insane. For the first time in my life I AM PREPARED.

Well, almost. I need money first. I sort of have a job – it’s not full time, but I give the occasional weekend or afternoon when I’m needed. Generally, my mum handles all my money and it all goes into a savings account. But this year I plan to change that.

Once I’ve earnt a bit more, I’m gonna start using my PayPal to buy the presents. I like packages in the post.

So, just a warning, expect many more Christmas-themed posts from now on. I am WAY TOO EXCITED to not talk about it .

So, some of you may have noticed that Vicky’s site was down for a while yesterday. I can’t say I’ve ever spoken to her much, but after the shortest of conversations, I can’t help but feel so sorry for the poor girl.

It’s common knowledge that Vicky is a dedicated site owner. Her tutorials and resources are some of the best around. I think it’s because she’s so well known that a lot of her content gets stolen – some stupid little idiots must be thinking that they’ll get away with it because she gets so many hits that they won’t be found out. THEY’RE WRONG.

Vicky’s premade layouts, in particular, bear the brunt of the stealing. They all have a simple link in the footer to show who made the layout – a teeny tiny link. Nothing extremely noticeable like, say, “MADE BY AUDIORUSH NO STEALING © 2009″ plastered across them.

I guess, in a way, I can see why some of the users of these layouts would remove the link – a lot of them probably think that after editing the CSS to their liking it’s then totally unique and thus belongs to them. WRONG.

You could edit the CSS to your hearts content but the fact is you didn’t make it. Vicky coded the original stylesheet and you edited the shit out of it, but she still made it first. Her. Not you. Get that through your skull.

What I really admire about Vicky, though, is the fact that when she finds someone stealing her resources she tells them – nicely and gently – to put the credit back on. She doesn’t blow up straight away; she eases them back into her good books with as little trouble as possible. Most, I think, would comply and stick that link back up pronto with the general thought of holy shit she found me, I better save my ass from a pounding.

But there are constant re-offenders. People who do it again and again – and not just from Audiorush. Any well-known site is bound to have had stealers. So Vicky has taken extreme action and password-protected her premades, only giving the codes to people she believes she can trust. She’s so trustworthy! I would have just gone fuck it all, to be honest.

How would… Einstein feel if some other scientist came along, read his notes on the theory of relativity and then passed them on as his/her own? Einstein would go ape shit on their ass, right? And could you blame him? If you’ve spent your free time working hard on something, you wouldn’t want that taken away from you by a worthless asshole. Am I correct? I think I am.

Anyway, back to the topic of the post: I don’t see why it’s so hard to keep a link in the footer, or why it’s so hard to, y’know, LEARN TO MAKE YOUR OWN RESOURCES. I seriously don’t. I’m just really glad I don’t make visitor content.

So, the lesson we’ve learnt today? CREDITING = good. STEALING = bad. Choose the right path, my friend, or prepare to get your butt kicked.

So… what was I going to say before I started screaming? Oh yeah. I remember now. After reading Georgina’s post a few days ago, I decided to download TweetDeck. And I love it so, so much!

It’s easy to use, and it looks pretty good too. Everything’s laid out easily in columns: you’ve got one for all the Tweets by the people you’re following, one for Tweets mentioning you, and one for direct messages. It’s easily customizeable, too, so you can add and remove these columns as you see fit.

I never used to use Twitter too much. Every so often I’d remember I had an account, so I’d post one Tweet and then forget about it all over again. Now I keep TweetDeck open and I’m always Tweeting. This may or may not be a good thing.

This is, of course, forgetting the fact that we might be celebrating his death. Which, to me, just isn’t a good thing. HEY, HE DIED, LET’S MAKE IT A PUBLIC HOLIDAY~~

Whatever the reason we celebrate the fifth of November is, I hope you have a good night, whether you’re watching fireworks / sitting around a bonfire / doing nothing (like me).

For once in my life, I’m writing a blog that has a topic! And it’s going to lead to a very long post! It’s amazing. I think I might need to sit down. I’m already sat down? Too bad. I’ll just… sit down some more. Yep. Here we go.

All the boys I know have hairy legs (except Will, but I have reason to believe that he’s a woman, so he doesn’t really count…). Children in Need is coming up soon. A good friend of mine, Luke, put these two things together and volunteered to have his legs waxed for the cause.

Then he chickened out of the waxing and decided on hair removal cream instead. I didn’t care – the thing I was focused on was the fact that a BOY was going to have HAIRLESS LEGS and thus look like a COMPLETE AND UTTER TWIT because of me!!!

We were, originally, going to be doing the hair-removing in school and collect money for it. Then our plans changed. This past Sunday (the 1st) a group of us went to see Fame for Luke’s birthday. After the film had ended, we wandered into Boots to get the tools we would be needing for the upcoming hair-removal session. This was when Luke decided to “be a man” and go for waxing instead. So I paid for wax strips and we left again.

Next, we had to head to the bus station to check what time the bus was arriving to take us home again. It was while we were stood in a bus stop, staring at a timetable, that someone (I forget who, but they are officially a genius) suggested we try out a wax strip.

To cut a long story short, we used six wax strips on Luke’s leg. In a bus stop. On a Sunday afternoon. With a little old lady watching us. (We didn’t know she was there until we packed up, though. I think she may have been a tad confused/scared by us.)

In the end, Luke chickened out of the hair-removal completely, even though the VERY NEXT DAY we went out again to buy hair removal cream. Which didn’t work.

Thankfully, I have other, less wimpy friends who have taken his place. Scott has volunteered BOTH of his legs for waxing, and Alex may or may not have been pushed into shaving his eyebrows off by his girlfriend. So this year, we’re hoping to make lots of money for a good cause by humiliating some boys. What fun.

And now Luke has been left with a bald-patched leg, which should teach him NEVER to back out of things again.

I missed the beginning of this by two days. If I’m incredibly lucky, Sophie will still let me participate – I could just blog on the first and second of December as well, right?

Anyways… new theme! I saw it on Lauren’s blog and sort of fell in love with it’s simplicity. I think it’ll be here for quite a while. Any thoughts on it?
